Anytime’s a Good Time for good ‘ole Dicken’s Cider

Dicken’s Cider – It wasn’t long ago that a friend of mine asked me if I had heard of the new drink that was the new big craze. Hahaha was my response after a second or two. Amazingly tho, most of the waitresses don’t get it when he asks if they have it available when they’re taking drink orders… or they’re pretending because they aren’t interested in engaging in his toilet humor. If you haven’t heard of Dicken’s Cider, look it up on Youtube – it’s good for a laugh. It’s one of those Dr. Dimento type songs that’s been on radio shows for years. I tried to trace it’s origins for this post, but didn’t get very far. People online dispute one another about where it came from, the only thing I could determine is that it’s been around for quite a while. The version below is performed by Kevin Bloody Wilson.

This design for our Dicken’s Cider merch was made in house at Moosestrum. It was created as though Dicken’s was a real Cider Drink – by fellow Moosestrumite/Graphic Designer. It has sayings and bits and pieces of Kevin’s song incorporated into the artwork, and it certainly looks great! See our Dicken’s Cider tee here!

Dopamine Dressing Style!

If you find yourself asking, what is the Dopamine dressing trend? Well, it’s the fashion style is that’s heating up the summer of 2022.

Dopamine dressing is a fashion style that has the goal of boosting your mood through the wearing of bright, exciting colors. The idea is that wearing vivid clothing, especially clothing that has special meaning or memories to you has a positive impact on your outlook and feelings of happiness.

It’s called Dopamine Dressing after one of the feel-good chemicals released by the brain that affects one’s overall mood and sense of well-being (the other being Serotonin).

The phrase “Dopamine Dressing” was coined by psychologist Dr. Dawnn Karen, who is also a professor at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York.

She has talked about how more than a year of living in the era of Covid affected our morale. People are now looking to distance themselves from what was essentially a stressful period, and one way to do that is through fashion expression. Dr. Dawn says. “I’d say color plays a huge role. Wearing color is a form of communication, and it triggers emotions within us and others perceiving us. The colors you gravitate toward, and ultimately choose to wear, carry meanings much deeper than meet the eye.”

Dopamine Dressing helps us feel good. Colors can help us feel more confident and give us a mental boost that helps make the day just that much brighter. Of course, different colors evoke different feelings for different people, so it’s definitely an individual journey. But why not give it a try?

Tiger’s Eye: Meaning, History and Beauty

Tiger’s Eye is a a great silky-looking Metamorphic rock which gets its name from its brown and yellowish-brown stripe pattern. It is known as a Chatoyant gemstone, which means that its fibrous makeup gives it a cat’s eye effect.

Historically, Tiger’s Rye was carried by it’s owner to keep them safe and help ward off a curse of the evil eye cast on one when they’re not aware. Soldiers and warriors were even known to wear Tiger’s Eye on them when going into battle.

Tiger’s eye is a stone that stands for inner strength, will power, and self confidence. Those who believe in its healing properties say that Tigers Eye will give one confidence and courage to take on new things and new opportunities.

It is also said to be a great choice for helping one in the quest of wealth by helping to overcome the fear of failure and stay focused, even when things get difficult.

In astrology, Tiger’s Eye is a lower order substitute for Ruby and is governed by the Sun and Mars. It is said to enhance and balance one’s masculine energy.

Tiger’s Eye is made of Silicon Dioxide and Iron Oxide and can be found in parts of most of the world’s continents. It has a hardness of 7 on Moh’s Scale of Hardness (as a reference, Quartz also has a hardness of 7, and Diamonds, which are the hardest substance, have a hardness of 10).

Tiger’s Iron is one the variants of Tiger’s Eye that is used in jewelry making. Tiger’s Iron is a composition made-up of Tiger’s Eye, red Jasper, and black Hematite. While looking at Tiger Iron, one can see that it is a sedimentary formation formed when these three substances were pressed together billions of years ago. As you can see below, the result is quite magnificent.

For me, Tiger’s Eye is a beautiful stone with a lustrous look that I love to wear. I’m not really one that’s all into healing crystals and Chakra and stuff like that, but if Tiger’s Eye looks great AND will aid me in the pursuit of wealth, help balance my masculine energy and keep me safe, I’m game. 🙂
